         Passing
         Tara K. Harper

         Cherry tree sneezed, and
         Its flowers fell off;
         Asphalt rejected them and,
         Crushed and crumpled by a dozen feet,
         Discarded by the cool dawn wind,
         Forgotten by the softer shadows of night, they
         Lay like tiny memories of beauty,
         Passing into grey.
